Oct 28, 2020, 07:51
“The more digital technologies advance, the bigger the threat of hacking will be. Now, from a hacker's point of view, we need security consulting.”
In an interview with Park Chan-am, 31, CEO of Stealien, an Korean cyber security solution provider, said, “With the development of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), we can control all our daily lives with a single mobile application. When it comes to app security, companies and the general public still have low awareness.”
Mr. Park was a white hacker, and he is a well-known person in the security industry as a CEO. When he was in his first year of high school, he won the grand prize at the Youth Information Security Festival. Later, he participated in the “Defcon CTF,” called the World Hacker Olympics, and won a prize. He said, "I dreamed of starting a business while watching a 'venture boom' in the early 2000s. I have developed a hacker dream since I accidentally came across books related to hackers when I was in elementary school."
After graduating from the college, Mr. Park, who was working for a domestic software company, quit the company in 2015 and founded Stealien. Although mobile-based IoT and fintech are rapidly developing, the fact that there was no proper security solution to protect the service led him to start-up.
Stealien's main focus is the mobile app security program 'Appsuit' and hacking security consulting business. Appsuit prevents hackers from attempting to forge/modify apps, reverse analysis, and hack memory. Mobile apps run by financial companies such as Shinhan Bank, Kookmin Bank, Toss, and Bank Salad all have Appsuits built-in. App downloads with built-in Appsuit exceeded 50 million.
Penetration Testing is like hacking a company's security network from the point of view of a hacker and provides security solutions based on this. For example, when a financial company or a public institution requests consulting, the white hackers belonging to Stillion directly hack the company's internal network or website. Afterwards, they find security vulnerabilities and inform them of reinforcement methods. Customers include not only general companies but also local governments and government agencies such as prosecution.
